The Doors - Light My Fire (Live Hollywood Bowl 1968)

The song originated as a Robby Krieger composition, with Jim Morrison writing the second verse.

Ray Manzarek played the song's bass line with his left hand on a Fender Rhodes Piano Bass, while performing the main keyboard solos on a Vox Continental using his right hand. After the recording session, producer Paul A. Rothchild brought in session musician Larry Knechtel to overdub a Fender Precision Bass guitar to double the keyboard bass line. When the Doors played the song at live concerts, Manzarek used the Fender Rhodes Piano Bass without augmentation.

Lyrics

You know that it would be untrue You know that I would be a liar If I was to say to you Girl, we couldn't get much higher

Come on, baby, light my fire Come on, baby, light my fire Try to set the night on fire

The time to hesitate is through No time to wallow in the mire Try now, we can only lose And our love become a funeral pyre

Come on, baby, light my fire Come on, baby, light my fire Try to set the night on fire, yeah

The time to hesitate is through No time to wallow in the mire Try now, we can only lose And our love become a funeral pyre

Come on, baby, light my fire Come on, baby, light my fire Try to set the night on fire, yeah

You know that it would be untrue You know that I would be a liar If I was to say to you Girl, we couldn't get much higher

Come on, baby, light my fire Come on, baby, light my fire Try to set the night on fire Try to set the night on fire Try to set the night on fire Try to set the night on fire
